Preparing the booking calendar…
What happens on the call
You tell me what's going on. As much or as little as you like — most people find it easier to say out loud than they expected.
I'll ask a few questions about what you'd want to be different, and I'll tell you plainly whether I think I'm the right person to help.
If it feels right, you book a first session in your own time. If it doesn't, no hard feelings — and if I can point you somewhere more useful, I will.
Who I work with
Gay and bi men, mostly in their 30s, 40s and 50s, who are doing well on paper and know something underneath isn't.
- Shame or self-doubt that's been there so long it feels like part of you.
- A relationship that's ended, or keeps ending the same way.
- Coming out, or coming to terms with who you are, later than you'd have liked.
Sessions are online, so it doesn't matter where in the world you are.
Who you'll be talking to

I'm Mark Clarke, a psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work online with gay and bi men in the UK and internationally. My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, which in plain terms means we go at your pace, and we look at what's underneath the pattern rather than just managing the surface.
The practical bits
- The call is 30 minutes, by video, and free. Times are shown in your local time zone.
- If we go on to work together, sessions are 50 minutes and £95, booked and paid online in advance.
- Everything you tell me is confidential, within the usual professional limits, which I'll explain on the call.
- Need to move the call? Use the link in your confirmation email — no need to tell me why.
Questions people ask before booking
- Is the intro call really free?
- Yes. There's nothing to pay, and nothing to enter beyond your name and email so I can send the video link.
- Do I need to have decided that I want therapy?
- No. Plenty of people book the call to work out whether therapy is what they need. That's a good use of it.
- I'm not in the UK. Can we still work together?
- Usually, yes. I work online with clients in several countries. If your location makes it complicated, I'll tell you on the call.
- What if I'm nervous about it?
- That's normal, and you don't have to hide it. The call is a conversation, not an assessment.
- Will anyone know I've been in touch?
- No. Enquiries and sessions are confidential, and your details are handled under UK data protection law — see the privacy policy.
- What happens after the call?
- If you'd like to go ahead, you'll get a link to book and pay for your first session, and a short form to complete before we start. If not, that's fine. There's no pressure either way.
